The Ministry of Communications and Transport (SCT) has authorized the use of cell phones during flights in Mexico.


The authorization shall enter into force upon publication of notice of cancellation of the 2001 standard in the Official Gazette.

Through a circular dependency by Juan Molinar Horcasitas cancel the Norma Oficial Mexicana NOM-019-SCT3-2001, dated 2001, which sets restrictions on the operation of mobile phones and electronic devices on board aircraft , published in the Official Gazette on December 4, 2001.

The authorization shall enter into force upon publication of notice of cancellation of the 2001 standard in the Official Gazette.

According to the SCT, the National Advisory Committee for the Standardization of Air Transport meeting on August 20, 2008 and conducted the analysis of NOM-019-2001-SCT3 and agreed to its cancellation.

"Since at present the technological advancement of electronic systems can be installed in aircraft can make it possible to use cell phones in certain phases of flight of the aircraft," the agency said.
