What is true is that a lot of Latina superstars will do anything to have a pointy nose and maybe...just maybe that gives them the look that most outsiders will point to them and say...'they look white'.[/quote]

seems like a large portion of the "white" superstars also get the nose jobs for the pointy nose....

Hollywood actresses and actors go through plastic surgery to have their faces (noise, etc) modified in order to look more European. That city is the ideal location to set up that kind of medical businesses.

What Mexicans in Mexico don´t know is that a vast proportions of the people in the U.S. media is not U.S. American. They are European, Canadian, and Australians. And of those who are U.S. Americans, the majority of them are first generation americans who are Australian blooded European blooded or Canadian blooded... (who are very different from the standard U.S. population).

I bet that Mexicans believe that Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman, the guy from Gladiator, Eric bana, Heath Ledger, Mel Gibson are true U.S. Americans...

Please... all of them are Australian blooded.

What about Keanu Reeves...Pamela Anderson..David Duchovny, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Farrel, etc etc...all of them Canadian and Europeans...

The average Joe in the U.S. is not even 75% European blooded. U.S. Americans are as mixed as South Americans.

It is funny how you meet people in this country that comes from overseas and they modify their names from "Yilmaz Mohammed" to "Brad Johnson" once they become U.S. citizens.

You can actually change your name in the naturalization ceremony when you become a U.S. national.... they basically ask you..."do you want to become an Anglo? print your new name: "

Now this new "Anglo" (imaginary race who is genetically different to British and Europeans) "Brad Johnson" travels to England and self identify over there as an Anglo (The Brits are like what?? )

Believe it or not...the U.S. is populated by a majority of these "anglos" who are not even genetically 75% white European, but because the U.S. is all about skin color...if these people are light skinned (not necesarilly European blooded) they self identify themselves as "white" when the population census takes place.

Now these people grow up believing that "White" in the U.S. is the same as a white European citizen....please

Now, in Latin America, "Javier" is just Javier...and he is just Mexican or Argentinian...etc with no words attached to their nationality (The same in Europe, Asia, and Canada). The U.S. is the only country that attaches words to your nationality ..Italian-American, Arab-American, French-American, etc etc etc.....

So, to those who say that Mexico only hires "white" actors in their novelas. We do the same in the U.S. we mainly hire Europeans, Canadians, and Australians.

That is very true. I had not thought about that. Although, I think plastic surgery is much more exagerated in Hollywood. They not only do their noses, they do their chins, cheeks, etc. and that is just the face.

Eduardo: That was a great analysis. I had not made the connection between the two. There is definately something to say about the mixed composition of Caucasians in the U.S.

I grew up in Mexico though I'm an American caucasian from the time I was 6-13 years. I can tell you that Americans have a reputation of being stuck up snobs, sadly for good reason as I've watched lots of tourists. It also depends what region of Mexico, I was in central Mex, in Cuernavaca. Americans are sometimes revered, other times loathed. If you try to learn the language and don't flash your money around, you'll fit right in.

Old post by kidrunner but what he says is true to an extent. Too many Americans are a little snotty and have their noses in the air. I have seen a few at the LA airport when boarding a Mexicana flight to Mexico City. I lived there for three yrs so traveled back and forth quite a bit.

Fortunatley they are in the minority as the number of flights into Mexico City and the tourist beaches are numerous.

We had a weekend home in Cuernavaca "City of Eternal Spring".

Tourists are welcomed who have the right attitude and will be treated back accordingly.

People are obsessed in whites. Come on theres whites even in the hidest mountain of Perú.

Mestizos are obsessed with changing their hair color to become a fake blonde.

Mexicans are generally very friendly and generous to foreigners, including "Anglo" Americans, as long as they show some respect for the culture. They are also far more hospitable, on average, than Americans.

A young Anglo-American man, if he has blue eyes and speaks a bit Spanish, will get loads of attention, often very obvious, from the opposite sex, at least outside tourist centers. This is even truer for American girls who visit Mexico. Blue eyes and light skin are considered highly attractive features in Mexico, unlike in the U.S., where the "morena" look (tan with black eyes, though with minimal indigenous features) is considered more desirable.
