Calling all Mexicans in Mexico, US and all devotees of "Santa Madre de Guadalupe" anywhere around the world!

On her 458th birthday, I thought it was important to mention "our mother and Queen of the Americas". For those of you that don't know, the Virgin of Guadalupe is an important figure both culturally and religious.

Feel free to share.

As usual I will be in church for the mananitas. Will spend time with family. I love the way we celebrate with mariachi, norteno music, Banda and indigenous danza/dances.

Hope you all enjoy this special day!

I have prayed with a group of people, some of whom are Catholic and some not. Our teacher uses a prayer that is hundreds of years old, and given to him by his grandmother...an indigenous Mexican (i.e., not Spanish). I know this is very different than what we do here in the US, but there is such an undeniable power associated with prayers to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Many who never experience it find it very hard to believe. That's my little story.

Thank you virgode for the youtube and thank you Wicked Felina for sharing your experience.

I had to take a couple of days to recuperate from the long night. Here is a youtube I found with much more info on "The Virgin of Guadalupe".
