Maybe you do not know or do not want to know, but women have won many places in Mexico today and spaces of power, denial is ignorance or stupidity, which you choose?

I choose intelligence! Egalitarianism in Mexico is like it was in the Soviet Union. Women are allowed to work, to make money... but still expected to be the housekeeper at home. Mexico has come a long way, but it still suffers the ailments of deep rooted misoginy. You can name off all the diputadas all day, but take it from someone who's travelled the world, egalitarianism in Mexico is still a work in process.

Like I said in the private email I sent you, I think it's unfair that you try to disqualify my opinion based on where I live now. I am just as Mexican as you, and just as part of Mexico as you are and just as involved with Mexico as you are.

Its funny that you been white mexican, name your self indian, that is just bull****.

I guess this is all my fault... I was a bit too ambitious here. Mexicans have a deep rooted self-hatred of their indian heritage stemming from 500 yrs of an oppressive caste system that has instilled shame into the Indians in Mexico. The OP and I tried to combat that in one measley CityData thread. Lol...We don't stand a chance.

Since I am not mexican, I am not going to argue about the majority of skin colors or politics, however I must say that there is a hugh difference in the point of view of those that had the chance to live in other countries, non third world countries to be more exact, and those that have travel as tourist and I believe that might be a great part of the difference from where you guys are looking at the question in hand. IMHO.
Although I too look cockasian, he, he, he I think darker skin is beautiful!!!

The standard of beauty across the world has always been light skin. Even the black models are also light skinned.

Quote:
What Guanajuato are you referring to? Even in states like Chihuahua, Sonora, Nuevo Leon, Jalisco... yeah, many of us are 'lighter' but there are still many more dark skinned. We are a dark-skinned nation.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this, but the place from where my family is from (Near Guadalajara, Jalisco), its about a town of roughly 5,000 people, I'd say 85% of the people there are light skinned, a lot even have blue and green eyes. The gene pools are entirely differed when comparing North Central and Southern Mexico. Just look at the Mexican boxer (Saul "El Canelo" Alvarez) who fought last night, against Miguel Cotto's brother, the kid is clearly white and even has red hair. Though, I still see a lot of dark skinned people, but they aren't as numerous as I observed when I was down in Veracruz. Complete shock down there to find Black Mexicans.

Hello I've been in mexico, all over north central and south. THe majority of mexicans are dark skinned, like it or not, accept it. However, the north is notably whiter.

If you go to smaller towns around southern Zacatecas, northern Jalisco and Aguascalientes, which are all very close to each other you will find the vast majority to be lighter and even the darker skinned mexicans in this region look more mediterrnean or arab than indio. They are very good looking but rather prudish if you are comming from a big city. This is an observation I made while traveling through these towns, Infact I was in shock to find good amounts of blonde mexicans walking around the towns of this regions. To my surprise there werent many beggars either. Another state that has a notable white presence is Sonora. I only stopped in Hermosillo to eat at a VIPs, to go to sams club and walk around and most everyone did not look like a stereotypical mexican.

The south, is very different. VERY indeginous. And nothing wrong with that.

You know Many mexican mestizo have african and asian ancestry aswell, to smaller degrees but still worthy to mention, and yet the mexican government wants you to think that you are 50/50.

Not all mexicans are mestizo(50 percent indeginous and 50 percent spanish), like the government would like you to think. Infact I think its complete bull****..Many mexican indeginous claim to have spanish blood even though they dont, and many pure white mexicans claim to have indeginous blood but really dont. My best friend from GDL is white, ive met his entire family, grand parents and all, they are all white, yet he claims to be mestizo.

Im from a "whiter" town in mexico and recently took a dna geneolgy test and to my surprise Im 76 percent european 14 percent amerindian 6 percent black and 4 percent asian!

Wheres the 50/50 my government claimed me to be?

Argentines and other white immigrants, have it made.. Go to La Condesa neighborhood of Mex City, Most of them work as actors, models make good money and live very well, yet the prietos are neglected, sometimes It seems that mexico prefers foreigners as opposed to its own nationals. BUT being foreign looking in mexico does sometimes have its disadvantages, if you look foreign its assumed you have money, which can lead sometimes lead to trouble.

I agree that Mexico has a racism problem, based on skin color. The Mexicans I know, if moreno, are ashamed of it, they have self-hatred, and to use the word indio or indian is an insult. There is shame about the indigenous background. The whiter people do have more advantages on all levels of society. I do want to reassure imaterry, the first writer in this thread, that not all white people "look down" on people with more color in their skin. I am a pale-skin, with freckles. Some people in my family are brown skinned. I personally envy women with dark skin....I feel their skin is more beautiful, they look better than I do. I don't look down on them, I envy and admire them. However, I agree with her that the whiter girls can be arrogant and look down on darker girls. I really think the whole rascism thing against darker skin is so bad, and yes, the darker girls need to unite and stand up and celebrate their beauty. Every woman wants to feel beautiful in some way....to feel acceptable as a woman. I think this human need should not be denied.

There is nothing sexier than a dark skin senora who knows how to bring it. I would love to see more of them on Telmundo and other Latin stations. It maybe time for the new revolution. It just makes me sick when I watch Mexican stations they way they ignore dark skinned women. I wish some rich dark skinned woman like Oprah would have a home in Mexico and show them a thing or two

Dark skin Mexican women who live in New Orleans and Florida are sexy and hot. I don't see why they cannot be treated equal in Mexico. How sad
