I have a west facing apartment and wanted to know what kind of vegetables/fruits I could grow, if any.

Do you have a balcony?
Some easy things to grow on an apartment balcony: herbs, tomatos, chilies. Not really any fruits I can think of, but perhaps a small banana tree could also work. Personally, I only do herbs and bird/thai chili pepper.

You might want to try small stuff that wont grow too big. It is an apartment and although its green you can make your space very uncomfortable and unsightly. I would suggest berries cause some varieties are kinda hardy, the biggest they grow is like 6-8ft and with regular pruning you might be able to cut that in half. You're local plant nursery would be a better help than anyone but a botanist on here.

I've grown strawberries, key limes & oranges (until the gestapo came and cut down my perfectly healthy trees) and these little red peppers that go GREAT with black beans.

But right now I just grow fresh herbs like basil, rosemary, etc.
