Fruta Bomba is used in western Cuba and Papaya in eastern Cuba and elsewhere. In Havana, Fruta Bomba is just what you said. The Three Guys from Miami are partially wrong.

The same happens with Mamey, Mamey in the West and Zapote in the east, or Grapefruit, Toronja in the west and "Grifo" (from grapefruit) in the east.

I remember when I first used the word Papaya in Miami I was immediately told not to use that word as it is not a nice one to use in public. Same thing happens with the word Bollo. For me (and the rest of the Spanish-speaking world) it is a loaf of bread (or a bun). In Miami it commonly means the female anatomy.

I am so jealous. I haven't had churros since I moved to Tampa.

Another one I have not seen mentioned are the Arrepa stands. Do they not have those anymore? I used to see them and pig out on them near Bayside and Downtown years ago. Just another food I miss from Miami.

And since I am whining about food I miss even though they were not sold on the streets, I would kill for Queso Fundido. I found one place that had that up here and what a joke that turned out to be.

I'm happy with a sausage dog. That's my treat when I go downtown, which is not really that often, or when I leave a club and someone is selling them.

I wouldn't touch street churros, they're mostly old and stale and being held by men with sweaty hands. Eww/

There's a churro guy on the intersection of W 52 Street and W 24th ave. Just north of 49th street. He seems to move up and down w 24th ave between W 49th street and W 68th street but you can usually find him on W 52 street. He's usually there on Saturday's and he's on a truck that resembles an ice cream truck. Hope this helps.
