Ok so I live in a Brickell high-rise and within the past few weeks these large birds have showed up in downtown. I'm on the 45th floor and they circle higher than that. I normally never see birds this high. Anyone have an idea of what they might be? My only concern is that they might snatch my cat from the balcony......

They are always in Downtown, especially circling Wachovia building. Even birds know how to appreciate cool buildings

Those are Gallinazo vultures btw (probably from South America)

They are condo vultures. Not looking for you cat, just cheap prices on condos

The are called Turkey Vultures and are native to Florida (and the rest of the americas) but during certain times of the year they choose to roost in downtown.

they usually roost at the top of the Dade County courthouse downtown during the winter.

Miamirob, that seems to be where they are focused. So what are they? Vultures, condors, eagles? I wonder where they migrated here from???
