Default Should i stick around South Florida ?

I recently graduated from Florida Atlantic University with Marketing and Management degree and could not find jobs related to my field here . Is it wise for me to move up to West Coast or move to NYC and to search for jobs . How is the job market for marketing jobs there in West Coast compared to East Coast and is it wise for me to move out of Florida now i know Florida living costs is cheaper than both cities but how is the job market here .. Please share your thoughts thanks

It really depends in this economy. If you have the funds to stick around to look for a job in South Florida and you want to stay here then do it. But if you don't have the funds to stick around till you find a job locally, you may want to look for jobs around the country. I know two families that have had to leave the state for good jobs up north. So it really depends.

I think everywhere is about the same for those degrees. The reason South Florida looks worse nationally is because all the tourism and service related fields are suffereing so much. I don't think that would affect you.
What makes you think the West coast would be different? There's not much there except for Tampa. I'd think the East Coast has more jobs, between Miami in he South and Jacksonville in the north.

Roger hinted at something that really frames the issue. Florida's economy is tourism based for the most part. Well that and service. So when those things take a hit the entire state suffers badly. The economy here isn't very diverse. NYC is more diverse t han here by a long way. But will you be able to get a job there? I don't know. If you have someone in the city, use their address and send your resume out to companies using y our friends address. Makes it seem like you live in the city and htey wont think twice about calling you.

If you are interested in Marketing try New York, Chicago, LA and even Minneapolis. There are many corporate HQs and marketing companies in those areas seeking new talent.

It won't matter...your problem is that:

-your young
-no experience
-no sucess stories to show you drive results....the days of having a degree and getting a job are over....volunteer, start ur business, but start something and drive verifiyable results....
