I'll expand this question in to the independent municipalities of Miami-Dade representative of the city you are from and include county Mayors

probably the worst in my lifetime was Mayor Joe Carollo of Miami who was an ex cop and was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife and threw a terra cota bird house at her head! He was a complete moron and if I remember correctly during his term is when the City of Miami filed for bankruptcy.

After '73 it all went downhill because you had to have a Hispanic last name in order to get elected.

Maurice Ferré was the worst Mayor. He became elected because his grandfather was a wealthy Cuban, but he was a PR at heart. Cubans don't like PRs.

Yea, that may have been the earliest indication of Miami's future decline. I wonder if the mayor had a PR "mi orgullo" sticker on his bumper like you see in Miami and nowadays Orlando.

*I like Stephen P. Clark, I took a few classes in the government building that was named after him. I get the impression Mr. Clark tried his best to stop the flood of negativity that followed his mayorship.

Cuba LibreI think that you're a tourist in Miami. How many years have you lived in Miami? 7 or 8 years?Maurice Ferré was elected thanks to the votes of Afro-Americans, Jews and Anglos. Cubans hated this guy because he was considered a liberal creep and a commie. He got a favorable footing because his grandfather, the one that made the bucks, was Cuban, but he was a creep. He was your man, man. The man of liberals.
