I don't think Homestead is going to move past being lower-middle class for some time. It's on the edge of the metro area and has nothing to offer beyond farmland and lots of land to develop real estate (re: cheap housing that's going to bring in a higher degree of riff-raff than other places).

Homestead was built by the poor farmers and did not ask for these new commers

re-open the Airforce Base, build a naval base at the same place by digging up some land close to the bay.
Expand the speedway.

Oh yes! Please subscribe to threads dealing with large bases and their issues. You will see the same issues Homestead has now. Just having a base or two will not solve any problems.

I rather live in Homestead than a couple of the base towns I was stationed at.

Lower class - anyone who has a criminal record, or will have one but just has not gotten caught yet.

Lower class - one who trashes the area around them.

If it hadn't been for Hurricane Andrew, I doubt we'd be having this discussion. Hurricane Andrew made Homestead a wasteland.
