Agreed! I'm goind to suggest this on the site. We should strive for pedestrain overpasses or tunnels at all locations that are:
1.) 6-lane roads and highways beside transit stations (esp. Metrorail along US1).
2.) Major Intersections between 6-lane roads with businesses at the corners.
3.) Densely developed areas along major roads, when there are businesses and residences on opposite sides (especially Brickell and parts of Miami Beach and Sunny Isles Beach.)

I believe they make it safer for pedestrains and they make traffic flow more smoothly.

As to the Cuban walk, it happens in every Latin city, including Latin Europe. In Barcelona, for example, most pedestrian accidents involve pedestrians not respecting lights, etc. The answer is education and fines.
and fences along the medians...

I actually think pedestrains would rather jaywalk because it may be the safer than using a crosswalk...considering how many motorists actually stop before turning right on a red light even with pedestrains in a crosswalk.

I'll have to get my ideas and wishes together in a cohesive manner over the holidays and submit them.

I'm glad they're doing this, now let's just hope they listen to what's said.
