Hey all, I'm looking to move to either Cali or Miami and live near the beach, just not too sure where a good place to live in either would be.

I'm 23 and graduating in June from Drexel with a degree in Electrical Engineering, so any electric companies or something of that sort that I can look into to apply for a job would be awesome too.

Right now I live in Philadelphia and pay $500 a month for a pretty crappy place in the ghetto, so anythings better than this lol.

Lemon City, Redlands or Cutle Ridge, you'll be happy in any of those places.

Go wherever you find gainful employment. Motorola has a very large facility in Plantation, it might be right up your alley.

North Miami Beach has some nice places in that price range, but be careful with the agencies you choose, the may try to get one over on you.

If you move to South Florida have a job lined up first and at least 6 months expenses savings!!!

Engineering jobs here are extremely scarce, trust I have friends in that position who are working for slighly above minimum wage jobs and have engineering degrees. Also, my friend has a friend who is a civil engineer and she's working as a waitress. Other friend told me that the best student (A+ GPA) of her engineering class CANNOT FIND ANY ENGINEERING JOB I have a friend who graduated from FIU and got a job at New Jersey and they pay much higher than South Florida...

Yes, do not move without securing a suitable job first.

In the current economic climate, no one should move anywhere without a job first, unless they have enough savings to sustain them for at least 6 months!

If you want to live in Miami/Miami Beach itself (and like almost everywhere) - definitely have a job lined up FIRST. If you are bilingual (Spanish/English) your chances increase for employment. In Miami there are no $500 a month apartments unless you want to live in a tiny efficiency behind a house that was constructed illegally to make the homeowner some "under the table monies." (Miami has a ton of these!!!) Apartments are now over $900 a month in "decent" areas around the city and the beach. What is also true is that engineering jobs are scarce in this area. I wish you luck with everything!

if youre looking for engineering jobs look at BE Aerospace in medley. they're a revolving door for engineers, primarily because alot of people dont like living here.
