Cutler Ridge has been a home to me for more then 17 years. I grew up here, experienced the devestation of hurricane Andrew and saw it be rebuilt over the years. Despite the fact that it is more run down then places like pinecrest or whispering pines, its really been come up in the last few years. I attended Caribbean elementary, cutler ridge middle and Southridge High and throughout my entire experience I found a mixture of "ghetto" people as well as very educated people. I dont shy away from the fact that I am a "ridge rat" and infact take pride in it. Ive had great memories shopping at the cutler ridge mall, picnicing by the lake in Larry and Penny Park and going to the movies as a child at "Ghetto 8". It is not a bad place to live. And any true Ridge Rat would defend it no matter what. So to all who write it off as a run down decaying community, dont talk about a place if you dont have the experience of living there to back it up.
