Default Considering Moving To Miami/South Florida Area...Please Help

I'm 26/27, and am looking to get out of my area (NoVA). I hate the area, and have been unable to find work relating to my MA in Geography.

I figure if I am going to have to do work unrelated to my college course of study, I may as well be somewhere I like.
I wanted to ask a few questions and get some advice.
I'm about to be 27, single, and have no job.
I may or may not (likely will not) have a car when I move.
I will have 2500 dollars.

If I want to move to South Florida
1) Which geographic spot should I move to which balances transportation needs/safety needs (not a ghetto), and if (able) a good spot for a 27 year old, and not far from the beach?

2) I have a verified disability (Aspergers). How can I go about getting work in the area? How hard is it going to be for me to get SOMETHING that can pay the bills...given I have a masters?
I won't be picky and will give up limiting myself to work related to my MA in Geography, I just want something that can pay the bills...and if possible....something I can do good at given my disability (a waiter/cashier given education and social skills would be bad fits).
-Are there social service centers or whatnot?

3) How do I go about this...is it best to get a place first, move down, then find work...is it going to be near impossible to line up work prior?
-How is the job market there? How hard will it be for somebody like me to just get bill paying work?

I don't recommend moving without a job, especially with only $2500 saved up.

Apply for jobs, line everything up, then move. If you want near the beach you'll sacrifice the Metro systems (besides the bus) and if you live along the rail corridors you'll sacrifice the beach. You're best off sacrificing the beach.

Look at Dadeland, South Miami, parts of Coconut Grove and Brickell and Downtown.

I probably won't be able to get a job lined up prior (just hard to interview 1500 miles).

Is it possible to get something that I can afford, with access to public transportation, not a ghetto, and not far/close to nightlife or not isolated?

you will be eaten alive with aspergers. there are very few nerds/geeks in miami because they cant cut it. think of the workplace here as a schoolyard. unless you can find a job in total isolation. ive met a few lawyers or telecommuters who were able to pull of near-complete disconnect from society. EVERYTHING here requires social skills or you will be preyed upon.

Sounds like you would make a great travel agent with your degree. What are you high functioning abilities with your Autism (numbers, music etc.)?
