That's what I thought at first, that's why I was agreeing with Pear and Princess. Now, I AGREE WITH THEM EVEN MORE

Places that are so cloistered do not lend themselves very well to an unhurried enjoyment of being outside. I find that a lot of places are like this with a sort of in-built meta-message of "Keep moving! No Loitering! Spend money or get out"!
I can tell you that I have never been harrassed or even spoken to by one, and I am someone who really enjoys the night life and the walking around, heck, I often stroll to Bayside drinking a beer on the way.

Brickell is very enjoyable outside, many people are out all the time, the party scene is pretty all right, and unless someone is starting trouble, I seriously doubt the cops just harass people around here.

Where you even imply that this is the case?

U know what's the deal in W. Kendall? Not many street lights, and people who happen to walk at night or just sit behind a retail shop or parking lot (I'M EMPHAZISING THE LADDER) are taken as possible drug dealers or rapist.

To be honest I don't think they are cops. Something tells me they are drug dealers in disguise?? I don't know

Not necessarily, but it sure feels like one of those places.

the only time i think i was harassed was at a walmart in medley. these two black women started yelling at me out of nowhere because i was dressed in business casual since my work was around the corner and i think they thought because i was dressed 'nicely?' that i worked for the store and was waiting for them to steal something? it was really awkward. they accused me of following them. wtf.

Who had to pick up the phone? The refugees? LOL!

Actually I was harassed by the police in Fort Lauderdale for going for a walk around 2 am. This was two nights before Tropical Storm Fay made landfall - so the wind is blowing and they've got me spread eagle on the trunk of the squad car and they're searching me and they pull out my wallet and all my papers and they set it on the bumper and I'm watching papers blow away, and when they finally put me back together again they shove my cell phone in my back pocket (I normally keep it in my front) and send me on my way, and I was too traumatized or whatever to realize this. So in the morning I get up and have a total panic attack because my cell phone(which is my lifeline) is missing and I get the hotel owners all up in a flustercluck trying to find the damn thing only to have to go back and sheepishly explain that the thing was in my BACK POCKET because I was SEARCHED BY THE POLICE -- at 2am. Just Freakin' Great!!!! Way to look like a desireable hotel guest right? Anyway the police gave me some crap line about how I was wearing black and there had been car break-ins in the area and the whole "what is your business being out at 2am" talk. I forgot that it was Martial Law and I was violating curfew. I should bend over and kiss their jackboots and be thankful that they didn't mess up their doc martins putting a bullet in the back of my head! Seriously, I don't know what it is with me and cops but I've been detained and searched so many times I'm beginning to suspect I might be black!

broward is different

also dont give them any reason to pull you over on okeechobee road though moorehaven or clewiston. you can feel really violated when theyre done grilling you for 'random checks for secondary crimes'.
they do stuff that you would have their badge for in other states. i was told later if i were jewish or mexican they'd probably take me to the police station.

You know what I always find funny? How cops want to have the last word, they are very conscious on that.

Cop: Blahblah blah blah blha?
Me: Just waiting for someone to pick me up.
Cop: Who? blablah
Me: A blahblah
Cop: O yeah?
Me: yeah
Cop: who is this blah blahblah
Me: Blahlaha
Cop: O yeah?
Me: yes
Cop: Humm I see.
Me: uh, ok
Cop: Ok then
Me: *nods head*
Cop: Hum ok, that's fine.
