Some of the guys on this board really shouldn't resent women so much, but I know there is no way anyone can change that. Its hard being a woman down here. When you are constantly bombarded by random guys making animal noises, kissing sounds, or who diss you when you turn them down politly (these are all quite disrespectful things to do to a stranger), it just becomes easier to pretend you don't hear them when they try to say something to you as you are walking from the car to the store.

My point of view.
Can I ask where you're running in to these creeps?? I really think you're simply in the wrong part of Miami and your perception of the area would change if you moved further south.

As Princess said, things like you're describing are typical with lower class people, or teenage boys thinking they're being funny and trying to be macho around their friends.

For every ten it doesn't work on, there's one that it does. The losers have been rejected before, and will be rejected again, so I can only figure they think "What have I got to lose?"

There are loser women just like loser men. If either sex was perfect there would be no Maury "baby daddy" or Jerry Springer or countless other trash TV shows.

I run into these types on campus, South Beach during the day (I'm rarely there at night), walking from my car to publix, and taking a walk to the beach in Sunny Isles.

My wife has described to me the same things occurring to her walking around Brickell. Most of the time it is on the mover or in Publix in Mary Brickell.

A college campus I could see... a bunch of horned up, frat losers. It's a shame you don't actually have to know anything to get into college these days or else I'm sure the majority of them wouldn't be there.

South Beach is filled with tourist and isn't exactly the epitome of high society.

Publix I don't have an answer for. Maybe pick another Publix to go to?

Sunny Isles I'm surprised at. I thought it was relatively classier there.

boxus, I never saw any of that happening in Brickell and I'm pretty observant. (Although I would think most people would see a guy barking at a girl or cat calling )

More specifically;

"You're 22? I'm 55 and married, but I'd love to get to know you"
Some variation of this, but not so up front.

"Whats your country?"
The most common one, every guy and their brother asks her, then wants to have an in depth conversation about it.

"I own a successful business, would you like to go out sometime?"
A variation of this, it is amazing how many tennis instructors are around looking for students.

"You don't go to the bars? Really? Wow, what do you do then?
A variation of this, it usually comes right after other things and comes out about asking if she goes to any bars around here.

I have friendly banter with say a guy in line at Starbucks, but I also have a bit more street smarts now. I used to be very polite and had my excuses when approached and then when they would ask for my number:

"Thanks but I'm married"
"I have a boyfriend"
"I'm here with my family right now, so this isn't approriate, but thanks"
"I'm quite flattered but I'm on vacation"

Now, unless he is behaving like a pure 100% gentleman, is the only time I will pull that crap. But it is so rare, that usually a man that seems naturally chivalrous will have a chance with me.

Its funny because when I'm out of state, I notice it seems like every man is a gentlemen. They will ask for your number after 30 minutes of conversation from sitting in a park or train. If you say you are flattered but not interested or have a BF, they will say "Well he is a lucky guy, it was a pleasure talking to you". If men in Miami did this, they would be golden with women.

Most men in Miami, if they spent 30 minutes of their time talking to you and you didn't give them your number would be openly flabbergasted. Rude, and this ruins your chances in case we ever have a chance encounter again.

Remember this post when you're 40, you'll know why I'm saying say this when you get there.

At 40 women are still developing, it's not until they turn 50 when they get beautiful.

Especially with Botox, ask Joan Rivers or Kim Kardashian in 10 years, although I wouldn't expect to see them in South Florida in fear of their faces melting under all the heat.

I was planning to taking my talents to South Beach myself, but with only $50,000 to spare & the seeming lack of jobs for legal citizens, I think I'll stay in Philly for a little while longer.

You better watch out with comments like that WF. You might get attacked by a herd of famished cougars...
