Our bill was: 230... Usually is around 300 on summer time. We work all day long, we keep the a/c at auto 75, I guess we are all on the same boat!!! In a couple of years the electricity it’s going to be so expensive that no one will be able to afford it...

Either way, enjoy the savings. I look forward to living with windows open a lot when we move to G'ville, SC.
I forgot what it was like to have windows open - Boy, those little things in life that make you feel so good. Good luck with your move

I've recently purchased "radiant Barrier" for the attic space... but it's too hot right now to put up. Energy dept calculations say about a 13% savings on energy usage... of course that is in the day time at the higher Kwh rate.

FPL has a on-line energy audit from it's web site... have to register to use it.
It is very useful.

The item that surprise me was the ceiling fans expense..... about $67 a month to run.
I find that if I don't use the ceiling fans I do better but if you use them make sure you do it correctly. Hot air rises & cold air sinks so have your fans sucking that cooler air up instead of pushing your hot air down.

not in the summertime though. check out the weather they are having. hot, hot, hot.

Yeah but their summer starts in June and has an ending in the .. ready for this ... fall! :^) Fall, what's that? heh heh

Our summer many years goes on until January. That's 9 months of hot versus 3.

When I posted this thread I was feeling very sorry for ourselves paying through the nose, so I thank all of you who came to complain along with me. I was surprised by the condo dwellers paying so much.

Try to keep cool...

Yesterday I got home after work at 5:00 PM. Since now I turn the A/C off, the temperature inside my apartment was 81 degrees. Well, by the time I went to bed at midnight, it was still 76 degrees inside and the A/C had not turn off since I got home. My next bill will be higher than my last of $244. Oh my....

In our Anderson home the highest electric bill we've had is just over $66.00 for the month with electric water heater , clothes dryer , cook stove , at least one TV allways on , computer , central air & bedroom window air conditioners , ceiling fans in all bedrooms & living room , while their are only the 2 of us . We did have new double pane windows put in which are a great help year round.. Anderson is a great place to live..

My air conditioner runs at 72 during the day and 65 at night. With FKEC power I pay 250-300 a month, with the generator going it drops to 50-80.00. Last month I paid 320.00 but this month it should be closer to 50.00 again as I have the generator up and running again. 2000 square feet with air conditioning. Setting the air conditioner for 80 degrees is ridiculous, and even when set at 75 degrees when I come home and stay in a room the temp climbs to over 80 degrees unless I give the air conditioner thermostat a lower setting. I would love to live somewhere with a source of geothermal, river or gas power on site. No more utility bills then!
