Green day? For my disgrace I had the bad luck to be in the first grade when that freaking Dookie album came out. They used to play it on the radio nonstop!! I never loved it then and not gonna love it now. I remember all the stupid kids in my school going crazy for Green Day, Oasis, Blur, Radiohead and later on for 4non blondes, etc... (all that 90's popish BS) they were like the JOnas Brothers of today. Not of my liking, but I'm glad Salserin and Back Street Boys hit my country in 97, even though I despised them as well - It's a matter of choosing between the lesser evil.

I always knew Colombians looked up to Peruvian, Mexican, Chilean and Argentine rock (in particular), because they were the only countries exporting the rock culture and history in the spanish speaking regions since the 60's. The reasons why most popular South American music never made it outside the spanish speaking countries is because they were simply too british in sound. The biggest names in Spanish Rock: Soda, Mana, Los Prisioneros (the BIG 3) are simply british bands singing in spanish.

That's why Colombia made it big worlwide, what they couldn't do with rock they did with their own traditional music. Juanes was a nobody back when he played in his Metallica-sounding band. Shakira was only known in SA when she was just the Alanis Morrisette of Colombia . It's not until they (or their manager) decided to incorporate exotic colombian sound to their music that the world began to care about them.

Other pleasant experience in Miami

OUTBACK STEAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This experience dates back to 2010, but still remains as a precious jewel in my mind. I was just leaving the bus around 10 pm and decided to go for a snack. There I was greeted by everyone, and they looked sincere. It was fun, everyone there had fun and I felt included in their world.

I went to Navarro's in Kendall and one of the employees did everything in her power to make sure I found what I wanted. She was as latin as ricky ricardo and could not have been any nicer.

I live in the South Miami area and most people have the preconceived notion that everything is just honky-dory down here, but the few times I have experienced rude behavior in this mostly pleasant area it has come from Americans. Bad driving, underwhelming customer service, etc. I'm just saying.....

Rode STS the other day, and everyone was nice. Timely service, and an excellent driver.
