Default How do i fit into the American schooling system?

I am moving to miami in october/november from England. I am sitting my gcse's now and was wondering how would i fit in to the american schooling system? If i was staying in England, i would carry on school after my gcse's to do A levels, but i know its not the same as America.

So would i be able to do A Levels (or the equivalent) or would it be too hard to join half way through their high school (beginning 11th grade)? Or can i get a job at 16/17 years old? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

We don't have anything equivalent to the A-level/GCSE system here. I don't think you'll have a problem just coming in during 11th grade (though school here usually starts in mid-to-late August, so not sure how that will work with you starting a couple of months in).

I would ask on a British expat forum, as this is more of a general USA question. But I believe you'll need to either go through the last two years of high school, or sit the equivalent tests when you arrive; you need that High School Diploma equivalent for university.

Not sure if it's a "general USA question" as standards will vary by state (though I doubt they'll be largely different). Maybe you will also find some help in the general Florida forum as well?

I hope they learn to speak American when they go there.
They should learn American when they travel abroad, nobody here understands them when they speak "Ainglish".
