Default Sunny Isles schools - K-8 center and Alonzo Mourning high

We are moving to Sunny Isles Beach in July. I visited K-8 center and it seems like a good school. All kids are zoned to Alonzo Mourning High.

Both schools are very new. Does anyone has any feedback?

I have a child at SIBCS, who has been there for 5 months (second grade). It's a really good school. I saw a huge, positive change in my son within one month of being there. He went from B's and C's to straight A's in his report card from last week. They really push the kids in a positive way. My son's class is small, (less than 20 kids) and the teacher is really nice, attentive, and always make herself available if I have any questions or concerns. I personally don't like the K-8 format because it makes the school too big. I know some of the middle school parents gripe about the school not being able to handle that many students and say that they aren't well equipped to handle the middle school students. I have also heard complaints about the middle school classes being too big, but I personally don't know if this is true. The K-8 format is very convenient for those who have several kids of varying ages and only need to make one trip to drop off the kids. Check out some of the reviews on greatschools.org.
The principal (Dr. Annette Weissman) came from Ojus Elementary (really great school in Aventura) and is very well known for her running schools to be top notch.

Thank you for your feedback. We are giong to the last, 8th grade, and the main reason is to get to Alonzo Mourning school. We will also apply to magnet schools, but if he doesnt get accepted, at least he will go to that one.
