Bicyclist killed in hit-and-run accident - Miami-Dade - MiamiHerald.com (http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/06/26/2285499/bicyclist-killed-in-hit-and-run.html#disqus_thread- - broken link) Bicyclist killed in hit-and-run accident

http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/06/23/2280524/five-people-die-on-south-florida.html (broken link) Five die in three violent South Florida car crashes

Facts speak for themselves. Of course, the rose-tinters are going to dismiss this as "it happens everywhere". I wonder how many more people have to die for change to take place? For the love of god, make your city safer.

Anyone who says, "it happens everywhere" has NOT been everywhere because it does NOT happen everywhere.

It's a lame ass excuse that people make when they don't want anyone talking bad about their city. There are good things about Miami and there are bad things, very bad things, about Miami. Accept the reality and stop with the ostrich trick...the complacency is annoying.

The complacency is not only annoying, it prevents change from occurring and preserves the status quo. If that's what Miamians want, more power to them and hope you don't become one of the victims, but the rest of us have much higher standards and expectations and a sense of right and wrong.

Well the way of the world is that it will get worse before it gets better as that is biblical.

I know you like to bash, but... IT DOES HAPPEN ALL OVER

Crime on the roads of Virginia Beach | HamptonRoads.com | PilotOnline.com
(there have been multiple cyclist deaths there the past few years... You'll read about the tacks and some injuries in that article, though.)

2 dead, including recent graduate, after head-on collision in Chesapeake - WTKR (http://www.wtkr.com/news/dp-nws-chesapeake-fatal-wreck,0,2604393.story - broken link)

Teens still hospitalized after post-graduation crash | HamptonRoads.com | PilotOnline.com

I think there is too much blanketing or generalizing about the city, the subject at hand needs to be more specific and then back it up with facts.

I have to say I defend Miami often on this forum ... but there is no defense for the drivers in Miami ... I travel all over this country for work as well as internationally and the worst , rudest most ignorant and reckless drivers I have seen are in Miami Dade ...... period .
