Where the Sun Reigns : Reela Films : Free Download & Streaming : Internet Archive

Too bad it is in black and white, but it shows the slower pace life Miami was in the 1950's and how beautiful the city surroundings were with the many places to visit such as Fairchild Tropical Gardens.

The film at the 10 minute mark points out the industrial aspects of Miami as there is a company called Cupromatic and it also shows the vast amount of agricultural area.

Yep, it was Heaven for some people. For me, actual Miami is the real paradise! Nice video though. I wish some parts of the city would have remained the same. I woudnt have to drive to central Florida or the Keys to get some peace.

Drug money ruined Miami. Then trickle-down economics destroyed the local industries. The real estate bubbles were the result. Now Miami is the world's prostitute.

It was a great looking small city then and now IMO it is a great looking large city. If slow paced southern living is what you like more then yea Miami back then seemed nicer and better. I prefer the large skyscrapers, busy city with South Beach night life. For peace and quiet just have to drive to the Everglades or the Keys.

Also lets not act like everything was perfect in the 50s because it was far from it.

It would have been if Adam and Eve hadn't messed up.

Why do they like to cut down trees..especially during the summer in Miami. Doesn't make sense. Trees are great. They provide shade. Give the place a nicer look.

the only thing i can think of is that people from south america and such dont like the big jungley lush look because they associate it with their original poorer countries and that perhaps people in those countries with very tightly trimmed back well tended areas was a sign of luxury. hawaii is full of americans who like the big jungley look whereas everything is trimmed back into tiny little boxes.

like the horse or lion statues in the yards. a sign of luxury perhaps elsewhere? but just considered gaudy cheeze here.

i really have no idea, i'm just speculating reasons for it because no one has explained it to me why things are the way they are.
