Hey everyone, I got a free $300 voucher from southwest airlines on my most recent trip that I just returned from. I was looking at some flights and flights into Fort Lauderdale (I would stay in Miami) are so cheap in late August!! So I was wondering, is it rainy/cloudy or anything like that in late August? Im trying to decide if I want to go to Miami or LA sometime in August. Thanks for the help!!

It's "stay in the a/c hot". There's also hurricane risk.

The humidity will give you humility.

Height of the hurricane season, there's a pretty good chance you'll get a tropical storm or depression or something, happens almost every summer. It's cheap because it's the off-season, and for a good reason. Expect at least 4 or 5 rainy days every week and temperatures from 78-80 in the morning to 90-92 by noon before the rain starts, when it goes back into the 80s. Very humid

Yikes, so it sounds like the weather isnt even good enough to play golf or hit the beach?? Maybe I should really consider LA, but the flights are much more expensive

Not really the ideal beach weather, it will rain most of the time so you can't really get a tan, and if you try to play golf, even on a clear day you will sweat bullets. Of course this might be an exaggeration, you could very well enjoy your time here, just note that you will be going on the tourist off-season, and there's a reason for that. If you really want to go to Miami, just do it, but LA might have better weather if you will pay more for the plane,

Pretty much like now, with a bi-weekly hurricane threat. Look up "cone on your phone".

you could go to the beach but wear a tshirt because no amount of sunscreen will stop you from burning. the water will be in the mid 80s like a bathtub. you could explore the aventura mall.
all in all i think you could still have a fun time. my parents even went on an airboat ride in the summer. they just had to go early to beat the thunderstorms. they also did alot of hanging out at the hotel pool and just relaxing watching the palm trees sway.
