Oregon coast is magnificent as well, but only to look at. The most I got in the water was a toe!
We were at the beach last Sunday until around 6:30 and I never felt any bugs.

bugs and humidity go hand in hand. the less humid a region is the less bugs.
of course it also means you have no coconut palms or reefs covered in beautiful colors. i learned to dive in southern california in the kelp beds but even with our degraded reefs here the coral reefs we have here are much more beautiful. west coast water is freezing.

LOOKS LIKE: Beverly beach between st augustine and ormond beach

LOOKS LIKE: again - the beaches just north of daytona

LOOKS LIKE: the northwest corner of the state around the bend where cedar key is.

and lighthouses? please - we have plenty.

list any one of those pictures and i can tell you a place in florida that looks like it.
the only thing we dont have is it freezes solid in the winter and THAT SUCKS.

I think the original topic concerned planes dumping chemicals to prevent mosquitoes and as that poster was from Miami i'd presume its miami area that she's referring to thus my comment about the outer banks as a vacation spot over Miami beach. The rest of Florida? who knows what they are spraying..

Does Miami Beach spray? I thought it was only in the interior areas of the county?
