Help!!! Where are the black hair salons?!!?
Hi all,
I just moved to Coral Gables and I currently face the daunting search for a quality hair salon specializing in black women's hair care. What is of most concern is ending up at a salon that will damage my hair or worse, ostensively "trimming" split ends while in reality hacking inches off . With that said, any recommendations for professional, quality black salons will be GREATLY appreciated! The prices, provided they are in accordance with the quality of service, are no issue.
P.S. I do not patronize basement or kitchen salons.

If there is one nearby, you could try a Hair Cuttery or JCPenney Salon. Just call and ask if they have anyone that does "black" hair. That'll probably do until you can find a salon.

Try the northern part of Miami-Dade where many Blacks live. Places like Miami Gardens, North Miami, North Miami Beach, Liberty City, Overtown, Opa-Locka etc. Click this link to see the map of where Blacks live in Miami-Dade.

That's quite a drive from Coral Gables, though.

Phenomenal Black Stylist
I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving Pearle. If you are looking for a great stylist, please call Stephanie at Jacqui's salon. She has an outstanding reputation and is very professional.
She focuses on quality hair care using quality products. She cuts and styles short and long hair and weaves.
She is in South Dade (Kendall) on Wednesdays and in North Dade on Tuesdays and Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I have referred many people throughout years and they all have become loyal customers.
Her telephone number is (786) 587-9554. Enjoy!

Where are you in the area? Miami is such a big place...it's tough to point you in the right direction...
Me and my friends swear by Dominican hairdressers. There is a salon on NW 186 St. in the Sedanos Plaza in Miami Lakes called Hair Team. I like them a lot...and do not cut unless you ask them to. The only caveat is that they speak very little English...but they know their stuff regardless! They do wonders for my hair (which is "hard to do" because it's thick and dry).

You miight want to look at African American/Lation areas. Domincans are prominent in the Alappatah Neighborhoood ( NW 36th St. ) so You might wan look there. There sare alot of latinos/blacks in Miami Gardens area ( NW 183rd St.) Also. LIberty City . some areas are good and not so ghetto. If you want ghetto places or don't care. the CAROL CITY FLEA MARKET is a good place you can look . I go there for bargains from clothes to shoes to everything lol

I would definitely look up dominican hair salons in the yellow pages... you will find some on 8th street near Coral Gables... not too far from where you are. My dominican friends swear by them and my aunt loves them too!
