Aren't these clubs including SPACE about a couple of blocks west of Biscayne Blvd.? I've been to SPACE before and never had any problems. That area is know as Park West so technically it's not in Overtown per se. By the way how did you get home since Metromover shuts down at around 12:30 AM?

Overtown is fine. It's just that some people are afraid of being around African Americans... sad. They don't see the neighborhood aesthetics; they see the color of the people instead.

I don't think Overtown is fine. I just think it's quite a juxtaposition to have such great nightlife so close to crime, violence, and poverty. Those newer homes on 20th street that look like Key west had the most minimal requirements for purchasers. So you know the area is quite destitute.
Even during the day that part of Overtown is scary. I would pick up a friend at the shelter on Ne 2nd and she would bolt into my car and say "let's jet on out of here."

Overtown is a great, safe neighborhood to raise kids in. ***MOD CUT***

All kidding aside, it's all about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Not everybody is a criminal there but your chances of getting jacked increases substantially in Overtown past sunlight. If you look like you don't belong in that area even worse.

90 Degrees, and most of the other clubs are in Park West, where I live. Overtown starts on the other side of I95. Yes, its a very close line, but an important one. I have walked around here for 5 years asnd never been hassled, except for change. Now if I were in "Overtown Proper" maybe up by 3rd or 4th ave ave and 20th St.- I probably wouldn't walk around so much. It's not about what can happen to you, it's about minimizing chances of stupid things that happen to someone else, affecting you. IE: a stray bullet.

This is by far the most asininely racist post yet! You are so far gone over the edge that it is almost pointless for me to tell you that you should be ashamed of yourself!

No, people generally do not like living in run down areas, and/or areas that have high crime.

I do not see a large number of upper class and wealthy blacks moving into Overtown, so I guess it is more than just being "afraid of being around African Americans".
