This thread is nothing new ,maybe an hyperbole of drama as I remember people getting killed on our nations highway at a rate of 50,000 drivers per year back in the 1960's and 70's almost more than were killed(Americans) in the whole Vietnam war.

This can happen anywhere as I was almost killed by a 16-year old female driver up in Atlanta.

Last week I was the first car stopped at a red light in Aventura. The light turned green and I hesitated (thank goodness!) for just a moment and looked to my left first before going. A young girl in a small car with her head down just blew right thru the red light without even slowing down a bit. What was she doing that was so important instead of paying attention to the road? 'TEXTING' UNREAL!!!
Unfortunately, it's not just her, it's a epidemic in SF.

Why does this state still refuse to ban texting while driving??

because if you watch closely you see everyone from politicians to cops texting and driving. i ALWAYS hesitate before entering an intersection. you gotta check for those red light runners if you want to live.

I hope you don't mean at a crosswalk after the light has turned red, because those oncoming cars shouldn't even be "oncoming," they should be stopping... You need to recognize that cars are not the only legitimate users of roads!

There are a few intersections here in Aventura where drivers routinely and blatantly blow through the red light/stop sign, not just while texting. Cop cars are often parked there just out of sight to catch people, but I guess some people just never learn.

I used to have a friend who could text correctly (commas, caps locks, question marks, and good grammar) and drive correctly at the same time. They don't make people like that anymore.

I agree with the pedestrian post. A couple of years ago I almost splattered a couple with a newborn in Suniland Shopping center. They flew out between two cars and I had to slam on my brakes. I got into it with the father big time. I told him there's not an F-ing crosswalk and that they need to look before just walking out into traffic.

I should have ran them over..3 less idiots in the world

Miami's traffic laws and road laws are awful. The police officers on foot are aggressive and jump in front of vehicles endangering their lives in the process just to pass out a citation and then they have the nerve to find every faulty in the book to legally pin you with. A ticket in Miami is no ordinary ticket, its at least worth $450 and up.

uhhhh - nope. People just randomly walk in front of my moving vehicle - even in the MIDDLE of a street, AS i'm driving down said street - without even LOOKING before they just step out into the road, it's mindboggling how clueless and inattentive people are. and then THEY get all indignant like the DRIVER did something wrong. smdh.
