Default Is Spanish needed to survive in Miami?

Title says it all. I do not speak Spanish (yet) but I am willing to learn. Just wondering if you can get by daily life there without using Spanish.

It really depends on what areas you will be working and living in and what field of work you are in.

Ditto PPs. You'll occasionally run into a Spanish snobbie, but "willing to learn" will buy you a lot latitude. Really try, and you'll find it fascinating. I had a lot of Spanish instructors down there. You'd be surprised how many people love to give Spanish lessons.

i don't think it's an absolute necessity, but it sure is an added bonus.

for me personally -i would not have made the move here in the current economy if i wasn't fully bilingual. i'm counting on having that edge in the job market -
