any recommendations? i went to imlee in Pinecrest that was recommended by an Indian lady...and I was disappointed the food was good, but it was 80 dollars for 2 people with just 2 drinks...would not justify this price again..

I have yet to find a decent place around here, I think I am going to have to explore and drop in on some less fashionable and out of the way places to get some decent Indian food (among others). Let me know if you find something.

When I lived in London, there were three of them within 15 minutes walk of where I lived.

Mint Leaf in Brickell. Started by a very reputable chef who also has a fantastic Indian restaurant in London. I haven't eaten there but the reviews are great. Careful with the prices though.

I think Imlee is also a bit overrated, considering the price. Although it is still a little expensive, Bombay Darbar is pretty good Bombay Darbar Indian Restaurant in Miami Coconut Grove

Although my favorite place to get quick Indian/Pakistani food is a grocery store in south miami:
Asia Grocery
6727 Miller Dr
Miami, FL 33155
(786) 268-7700

They sell kebab rolls, chicken tikka, samosas, naan, and will often have homemade currys (beef, beef nihari, chicken curry), although I'd call to find out what they have that day. They're reasonably priced ($5-$6). They also sell a lot of microwavable indian food which I find better than most restaurant food around here.

Finally, I have tried Lazeez Asian cuisine
13919 Southwest 66th Street, Miami, FL 33183-2203 (305) 388-2428.
() ‎ My wife really likes their chicken biryani. I have had a mixed experience with them (ordered the Chicken Boti once and it was divine, the other time, not so good. The biryani was good both times).

I have heard that Ft. Lauderdale has more variety and better Indian food (I had some lovely south indian food there once, great big dhosas and the what not).

Default Ditto

Seconding Mcquantum on Asia Grocery and Lazeez - Bombay Durbar not so much. Mint Leaf has really good food but is super expensive.
Woodlands and Udupi in Ft Lauderdale are supposed to be fantastic.

The better Indian restaurants are up in Broward. Woodlands and Udupi are fairly decent mid-range, reasonably priced south Indian places.

Please don't confuse Pakistani food with Indian food. Even though there are similarities, they are also quite different. A restaurant that advertises itself as "Indo-Pak" or serves beef is almost certainly a Pakistani restaurant. Nothing wrong with that if you like the food, but it is not authentic.

Of the two (or three?) Indian restaurants on the beach, I like Guru the most (though it is a notch below the ones in FLL or Palm Beach area).

I have been to Mint Leaf in Coral Gables which also has a location in Brickell but it was too upscale/"bourgeois" and they charge you for rice separately.

However, I have been at least 6 or 7 times in the past year to BOMBAI DARBAR in Coconut Grove and we always leave EXTREMELY SATISFIED with the food and service (rice is included with the dishes and they keep it coming, and you get a free appetizer...some sort of crispy flat bread, not exactly naan) and you are stuffed and take food home for $40 for two persons...try it!

I love Mint Leaf but it isn't cheap, that's for sure. However, you'll pay about the same as at Imlee (the one in Pinecrest) but the food is far, far superior. My favorite for Indian in the county was Heelsha in North Miami Beach but unfortunately they closed.
