Exactly, it seems people want every city to be London or NYC. Honestly it is just another argument for the Miami haters to have. Anyone who thinks Miami is not diverse is not of right mind IMO. I have lived in DC and Barcelona Spain. Miami is more diverse than either of those two cities I can say that for sure.

I disagree there. NYC has a more even mix of whites, blacks, Hispanics, and Asians. Miami is mostly Hispanic and black with a small white minority and an even smaller Asian population. London also has quite a mix of Europeans (obviously), Africans, Asians, Middle Easterners, and Latin Americans.

Just my opinion. Not looking to start a pointless argument on City Data...

"Diversity" is just one of those stupid buzzwords created by politicians.

Most human beings want to live among their own people, London, Paris, Barcelona, everywhere. In all those cities, nice areas are not diverse at all.

"Diverse areas" in those cities are old and decaying areas where non-whites and whites (generally old and poor people) live in crowded buildings.

In France they have gigantic "projects" (Banlieus) were poor and old whites live with non-whites. England also have those awful and drab buildings.

Of course, for most of those politicians that invent buzzwords such as diversity, "diversity" means having a large supply of ethnic restaurants.

Manolon,

Europeans are the most homogenous people in the world compared to other continents. Europeans are even genetically more homogenous than Asians. I read a scientific article about that (I will post the source later).

America (continent) on the other hand, was build by immigrants. So people can't have that mentality of wanting to live among their own people because there are no homogenous ethnic people/tribes/populations here.

Europeans pass on their citizenship by blood-right only. They also pass on their citizenship by marriage to a non-european but that is because european countries are forced to follow world agreements. American countries pass their citizenship by settlement (to encourage settlement from the old continents: 1500 600 700 800's immigration incentives) and blood-right. What I mean is that that nature you are talking about where "people want to live among their own people" only applies in homogenous places, old continents with homogenous ethnic populations, such as Asia, Africa, and Europe where those populations are used to see people with their same genetic features.

America is totally different from Europe. Diversity and mixing has existed since the conquistadors arrived here horny, after months of traveling, looking for women and gold. And after that, the continent has been home of all of those immigrants from the old continents that wanted a new life, arriving here, mixing again with the existing mixed/diverse population. I know you already know this, but it seems that sometimes you forget that american cities are different from barcelona. even in Barcelona, a Spanish (madrilense) could be treated as an outsider/immigrant. The same happens in El Pais vasco, etc etc. I like that about Europe 9i do not mean the discrimination), I mean the fact that it is still populated by different homogenous tribes (populations) of people with same genetic features.

Does the term Latin America exist in England? Don't they base their demographics on nationality, like Polish, Pakistani, Brazilian, Somalian etc...?

Edu

People from Madrid, Basque Country, Portugal, French or any EEC country (except perhaps those distant slavic countries) are not considered "foreigners" or "diverse" in Barcelona or in Spain. They have the same rights as locals as any EEC citizen. For example, a German, Italian or French restaurant is not "diverse" here.

Most American tourists we receive, I think they occupy the top position now, are not "diverse" since they look like locals or EEC tourists, and they don't behave differently except for using sneakers with socks or using too much ketchup. An American restaurant is not considered "diverse".

Argentinean restaurants (there are a lot) are not considered diverse here, even if they dress like pamperos.

"Diversity" here is just the same than in the US. Non-caucasic populations.

Most of the time, those non-caucasic population live in their own sections, but the main difference here is that non-caucasics live with poor or old locals.

The amazing thing is less than 60 years ago, Miami was a small village, all white, born Americans, no crime and Biscayne Bay was a clear blue/torqouise bath tub. Now, the majority are all immigrants, spolied, poor, good and bad, and very few speak the native US language we call English and they bring their culture here ... I don´t mind it but all my American friends will never visit Miami .... They are saddened with the immigrant influx and their lack of respect for English and the American way of life. I dont disagree with them entirely either ...

Today, the facts are, high crime, hellashish traffic at all hours, angry people, and a lot of apathy.

I think Miami people which are mostly immigrants, after some time, they realize, the get rich ´Dream ´ takes a lot more work and years of sacrifice. Then one day, the wake up and find themselves slaves to debt.

I love Miami for what it is ... But a lot of what happened there is sad.

Almost every building in Brickell was built from laundered Cocaine money, a few buildings on the Key and many on KB. A fact because I was connected.

Key Biscyane, the island, is home to many ´old guard ´ corrupt but wealthy Drug Cartel Venezuelan and Colombian families.

A lot of drug Cartel connected people from Central and South America call Miami home, Coral Gables, Doral, Brickell, etc. However, they operate under US names, US companies, it´s all a front.

With a population of 500,000 in 1951, the Miami area was not a "small village" 60 years ago.

You also know it is not the early 1980s anymore right?

That's why I call "Fascist Romanticism"...."Any past time was better".

Miami was never "all white born Americans", since Miami always had a very large population of Jews and Easteners from all around the world.

The highests crime rates in the history in Miami were during the 20's, and the highest presence of Mafias was during the late 40's and 50's...Ever heard of Meyer Lansky, Sinatra, Costello, etc?

As to the respect of the American way of life, that's a thing of the past.

You should move to a little town in Arkansas, I don't think you will find your bucholical dream in any city.
