Any idea what the fare from MIA international to south beach (5 / ocean) should be? I don't want to be over charged just for being from out of town.

2nd,

What's it like getting a cab off the beach to the dock for the cruise ships? Are there lots of cabs on the beach or will it be a search?

This is about correct. Of course it can always go a little higher.

$50 is a bit high, I was gomna say more like $35-40 not including tip. It's a meter. Going to 5th and ocean the cab takes the exit which says 836 east, gets on that highway and takes it right to I395 East to Miami Beach there should be almost no city streets until you get into Miami Beach. If he takes any other way you've been taken for a ride.

$32 + tip is correct.

From south beach (5'th and Ocean) to the cruise port should be about $20 to $25. Lots of cabs around, though I would call ahead and ask one to come at the time you really need one.

Ok yea I thought that was too high. As for cabs, you should be ale to find one. Miami Beachnusually has lots of cabs and most large hotels usually have them waiting around too. You can always call one 15mins ahead of time too.

I'd just like to point out that the #150 bus was recently extended down to South Point Drive/Washington Avenue, and it stops at Washington Avenue/5th Street. If you're not carrying a whole lot of luggage, you can walk a few blocks, and only have to pay $2.35, rather than take a taxi.

Here's the information if you're interested (and if anybody is looking around on the Internet, planning to do something similar): Miami-Dade County - Transit

When my family went to Miami, we used it to get to the hotel (in Downtown Miami, so we had to transfer in South Beach), and it worked out pretty well. It just got on the expressway, made a stop at the Earlington Heights MetroRail station, and then went nonstop to Miami Beach.

It's $1 for gas tax, $2.50 just to get in the cab, then $2.50 per mile. The airport and south beach are not too far. Do a mapquest for the mileage then do the math. I think it will be under $30.
Cabs are not a problem. I't not Manhattan where you can just say "taxi" and they are there. Get there early and call and of the cab numbers.
Enjoy your visit; you will be fine.

Bumping this thread.

What is the general rate? Will be going to Miami for Wrestlemania/Raw and probably will need a cab ride home after the show. Show will be taking place at the Sun Life Stadium and the American Airline Arena.

I would take public transit but I don't know how reliable it is.

Also any specific company that has online booking?

Thanks.
