Funny how people are simply divided by physical appearance now a days. If you read history the majority of Europeans before the 20th century were divided by culture such as Scots, Irish, Germans, Italians, etc. They were all white but separated by language and customs. The discovery of the Americas changed everything. Additional cultures added so much into the mix people had to make a sort list such as "white (European ancestry), black (African ancestry), yellow (Asiatic heritage) and red (Native American). As the world becomes a smaller place I wonder what the next batch of subcategories will be.

Cheers,

Joe

Agree and disagree ... yes most cubans have a family with mulato looking however not only white and mulato are the colors .. In fact mulato/a is not very common in Cuba .

You are not understanding what is a mulato/a ...

This race ( for call it somehow ) is the mix between white and black however depending in your skin color , hair , eyes , lips and even body you are considerate a mulato/a ...

Most mulata ( womans ) are curvy with big lips , dark eyes , light brown skin ( not tan)

All other are either white , black , trigueno ( which is the most common ) and mulato

Also there are Javao ... which is a white-brown skin , green eyes , usually curly hair ..

Cuba isnt only white and black ,, there are so many colors in the way ... you name it

Actually jabaos--which is the local name in Cuba to name women or man that are white skin complexion, some have green eyes, but the hair has to be kinki-not curly-it's coarse hair which is what identifies that the person is Javao(men)jaba(women). Most mulatos(as) are brown-caramel complexion but some and many have beautiful hair, it can be beautiful curls, some have straight and nice curvy bodies.
Now, Cuba is full of black and mulatos(as), there are some provinces where the white presence is more noticeable, but Havana is full of black people and a mix of races.
There are tons of black Cubans here in USA but most of them do not live in Miami because it's said to be a prejudice place for them, therefore, some opt to live in the norteast like New Jersey, NY,etc.

Blacks and mulattoes ceased to be the jewel of the crown to become "suspects" and "antisocials". All jobs generating hard currency in Cuba were taken by whites....... So blacks and mulattoes started to imitate "worms and slags" (whites that left the country that had a grudge against the communist regime).

So in Miami you can find black and mulatto Cubans that used to beat honkies and throw them eggs for being "worms" (by then, they had eggs). They even have CDR's in Miami. CDR are what Nazis called "block watch", they watch recently arrived Cubans and if they engage in Anticommunist activities, their families in Cuba experience all sorts of problems and they can't visit their families to bring them kinky and flashy stuff or some hypercorny stuff for their 15.

They are also big in Santeria and Withcraft, unfortunately not even communist could erradicate such nasty practices. They are known for their sacrifices, goats, chicken and according to hearsay, white kids. They also throw a lot of fresh produce to the sea, o all the Havana coast is a dump because of such unhealthy practices.
Just so you know, white Cubans are more into Santeria than any other Cuban race, specially the white Cubans that came to Miami when Castro took over. It's a religion left by slavery but more whites practice it than any other race nowadays, it's just probably not visible to the human eye when someone is a white Cuban and practice it, but all Cubans know how to identify when a person have that kind of belief. You can be surprised of how many of your big time celebrities in Miami practice that. If you go to the Cuban Nacional Museum in Havana you can find that even Castro practiced it, because right there at the museum is everything he had when he took Havana Jan 1/1959 and there are tons of african objects that are said to belong to the African religion of Santeria and many other things including the Cuba's national saint Virgen de la Caridad which is also linked to Santeria.

Santeria is a syncretic religion, so they can use any Catholic, Christian or Buddist symbol. For that matter, they can use the American flag or uncle Sam or dollar bills. Santeria is part of Catholic syncretism since the Catholic faith is also syncretic (a Jewish heressy that adopted Greek and Roman gods under the form of saints and that copied Mysteric religions from Egypt and Neoplatonism).

The bearded ones used those Catholic symbols to appear as moderates, Christians and nationalistic and dispel any notion that they were marxists. In fact, they tried to erradicate the Catholic faith and the Afrocuban religion a couple of years after their arrival.

And I know that, but Catholicism is linked tight to Santeria- When slaves weren't allowed to enter into the catholic church and were obligated to adore Catholic saints they started mixing Catholic saints with their Yoruba gods, that is why every Catholic Saint in Cuba has a different name in Yoruba religion and for them both saints are the same.It does not matter if one saint is Catholic and the other African entity.
