It's amazing that these teenagers don't own anything or pay for anything - probably not even the car they're driving around and they feel like it's fun to destroy other people's properties. I'm sure the mommies and daddies never made their precious angels work for anything. Then they grow up with a complete lack of respect for other people's stuff. I have 3 kids and none of them would EVER dream of taking or damaging any one else's stuff.

Yes, the thank you note is another courtesy that is being forgotten. Even a thank you email is better than nothing, but you don't see either anymore. I always had the same problem with RSVP's. We wised up and started using the money spent on the kids' birthday parties to take family trips instead.

everybody here keeps saying "those teenagers". However, police experience has shown that series of crimes - be they vandalism, car breaks, or murder are frequently committed by one individual who unopposed feels emboldened to repeat the crime over and over. Bag him once, get him off the street, and a whole crimewave disappears.

There was a series of muggings and rapes going on in South Pointe and we found out who it was. We had a stern conversation with that individual and the crime wave suddenly disappeared. Actually he took the show on the road but met his demise doing a B&E where some old Cuban dude welcomed him into his home with a solid metal object. Then me and the whole neighborhood went to the DA to make sure that dude did not come back. He was extradited for out of state crimes.

Moral of the story is one fox will kill all the chickens if everybody is a chicken. Bring one big dog on to the scene and the problems will disappear.

^^^Very true, I remember the news reported a 30 something man who died falling off one of the signs over the 876 that he was graffiting. I remember being shocked at his age. So you just never know.

You could be, the two times you were targeted where any of your others neighbors targeted? Usually they just don't smash one mailbox.
