America's 10 Most Segregated Cities I grew up in Miami, but I wasn't expecting it to be so high up this list, being black/dominican, so do you think it deserves to be so high up this list.

Not surprising. Latinos and Haitians don't mix in Miami.

Haitians are Latin too.

The report is about white and black segregation, Latin is not a race.

Haitian is not a race either.

Given that most whites in Miami are Hispanic, it would show that Hispanics and blacks do not mix. But I would not say they do not mix, everyone is free to live where they want to. So if groups want to live among their own or others, that is their choice. I do not see what is wrong with wanting to live among others similar to you.

Black is a race, Dominican is not. A person can be of any race and be Dominican.

NYC is arguably the most segregated city in the country. It's ironic that the cultural impetus for desegregation of American cities comes primarily from people living in heavily segregated Manhattan. Well, it's actually not ironic, it's instructive.

At the end of the day, this is about economics. Cities becoming more segregated is directly correlated to the money because there's still a strong correlation between income inequality and race in this country. As parts of Miami have become more expensive and has gentrification spreads along its eastern neighborhoods, it's bound to create more segregation.
