The U.S. Department of Labor requires employers with 100 or more employees to provide notification 60 calendar days in advance of mass layoffs.

The State of Florida has 24 Regional Workforce Boards, which are responsible for providing direct assistance to employers and workers affected by layoffs and business closings.

Here is a list of expected layoffs in Miami-Dade County during the next 60 days, as posted by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity:

Tmobile will lay off 1900 people nationwide too. Im sure many are in Miami.

Funny how they have plenty of money for a Marlin's White Elephant Stadium and not enough to keep the public hospital system running. Walgreens surprises me because they have popped up on every corner like Florida holly trees. In fact, all the interesting places I remember as a kid have been replaced by Walgreens or Leon medical centers. No wonder I hate both of them.

I am one of those who just got laid off from Jackson. However, my friends at UM Medical School tell me they are laying off 1,000 there too, during the month of May. The reason given was that since Jackson is shrinking and cannot afford to pay UM anymore for physician services, UM is now in a huge financial deficit too, and so they have to cut staff. Others have said it was because UM overpaid the Cedars Hospital acquisition by at least $75million, and the fact they are $50 million in the hole now means that they totally underestimated the value of buying Cedars.

Honestly, I am not sure who to believe, all I know is that I am out of a job, and I am going to try to move forward and put this nightmare behind me.

UM has a history of wasting money on everything they purchase. As for Jackson, I have known many people whose lives were saved there and it is a disgrace that bad management and a corrupt county let them down.

those numbers are nothing compared to the thousands of companies and millions of people that are located in south florida.

genesis logistics inc took over operations from Mitsui Bussan Logistics, Inc. on 4/30/2012 they open a new warehouse in lakeland they already shut down orlando they will be shutting down tampa next month they are keeping south florida operations open.

People can go back to school for a job that will not be there after you graduate. Well at least you can get a job groping for the TSA!
