I’m relocating to Miami area and I was wondering what the best way of finding a reasonably priced rental is. I would prefer to rent a single family house; however, a condo is fine if the price is right.

Factors that matter
  • · Neighborhood: low crime rate preferred
  • · School District: Top rated elementary school preferred
  • · Price range: 500-1000
  • · Room: 2-3 bedrooms

I hate to tell you but you aren't going to get a 2/3 bedroom single family house in a top rated elementary district for $500. $500 might get a room in duplex or apartment. So your looking at at least $1000 to get you into the better school areas, probably a apartment, townhouse or duplex.

Rents are 2-3 times what they should be in an area like Dade county with such low wages. You cannot even find a dump for 500 a month. However, take heart, it will eventually have Detroit style rental prices. Question is, how many people will be flocking to Miami then? I used to rent out a home I owned in Florida City ( the ultimate dump) for 800 a month. Finally I made them a deal to buy it for 30K. The neighboring homes were renting for more but I just wanted to get rid of it.
