Thanks for your posts and recommendations guys. I truly appreciate them.

What would my options be by looking in the west part of Miami or even North? Yeah, it appears I will have to compromise but so far every suggestion has been pointing South of Miami.

Thanks again!

I doubt 700 to 1200 will get anything more than a ratty looking 2 bedroom in the Hammocks and worse in the Crossings.
Isles at Bayshore doesn't seem like a bad name to me. The bay is right there. Garden Hills. Lived here 10 years and have yet to see anything more than a speed bump.

Hate to be a wet blanket but I can't see the possibility of this working out. Your budget would allow for an 2 bedroom apartment in South Miami.

Could anyone shed some light on whether the the location of any of these apartments I found on apartment.com are OK?:

1. Cutler Riverside Apts

2. Rayos Del Sol

3. Pinnacle Park

4. Northpark at Scott Carver

5. Brownsville Transit Village

Number 1 is in a not very good location in Cutler Bay, I definitely wouldn't consider there (it's far, very near a crime ridden ghetto - Goulds, probably a bad complex also). 2 is also in a not great location in Little Havana (which itself is overall a shoddy neighborhood) also, same problems there but at least is relatively near your work, would be a short commute. 3, 4 and 5 are located in the city's worst ghettos - drug dealing happens even in daylight in side streets, robberies are widespread and shootings are not that uncommon; so it's just plain dreadful.

In this budget as the other members said it would be very difficult to live somewhere decent and near your workplace. The only decent and okay places to live with those features I can think of would be the Coral Way area, West Brickell and Midtown/Upper East Side. But it would have to be probably a 2/1 or 2/2 near that price range, maybe a 3/2 with a better budget.

Other option is living more far from work in a also decent neighborhood and living in a larger, nicer house/condo/townhouse (locations like Keys Gate in Homestead, Cutler Bay (NE area of it), Tamiami (it's not as bad as people say, mostly newer developments there), Hialeah Gardens (same thing as Tamiami), West Kendall, Palm Springs North, and maybe Miami Lakes (it's more expensive though).

And regarding schools, I forgot, sorry, I would definitely recommend charter schools, they are usually very good and there are quite a few ones throughout the city.

Again, West Kendall for that price range will be a 2/2 apt - at most.

Yeah, it's true. He will have to change that bugdet slightly to afford something decent and a bit larger. The cost of living in Miami is relatively high.

Alright, alright! I guess I could manage to pay $1500/month. Would that help at all? Could I find something decent then? It is tough when one rents site unseen.
