That depends where in Miami you mean. It seems that the wealthy prefer only several parts of Miami Dade.

South Beach
Aventura
Key Biscayne
Coral Gables
Pinecrest

I'm Cuban and I like my neck of the woods (Biscayne Park) but if I could move without having to worry about money it sure wouldn't be Miami.

Comfort zone...and lots of them (us) cannot tolerate cold weather.

This question is SIMILAR to asking..

Why don't hispanics stop in Los Angeles and not San Diego? ( since SD is so close to Mexico)

Well, easy answer, bigger cities are generally more liberal, and open to immigrants as opposed to conservative suburban cities such as San Diego or Ft Lauderdale.

Everybody loves Miami. The only people that hate Miami are physically ugly and single, or unskilled unemployed ones who blame everyone else for their lack of success.

Canadians love Miami. English, French, Europeans in general, Spanish/Portuguese speaking Americans, people from other states, etc.

Miami is not a liberal city. In fact Florida is not a liberal state. Every County Mayor we've had is a Republican and all Governors in the past 15 years has been a Republican. Only Miami Beach is liberal and thats full of all types not just hispanics. In fact the predominant hispanic sub culture is Cuban and they are ultra conservative having livedthrough the Castro regime.

My feelings about Miami will never change,I know it's not the worst place to live but it's FAR from ideal, what ugly single people or unskilled people have to do with the reasons I dislike it I have no idea???

Miami as the current International City was built by Hispanics and drug money.

The reason why Cubans went to Miami in 1959 was because it was the traditional city for Cuban exiles during the XXth Century since the 30's. There was a Cuban neighbourhood between Calle Ocho and Flager - 8 ave, around Teatro Marti, back in the 30's and 40's. Many rich and corrupt Cuban politicians lived in Key Byscaine.

During the 30's, there were strikes against dictator Machado in Flagler and the Downtown area...and immigration officers spotted Cubans who overstayed their three month permits by wacthing who added salt to their "café con leche" in cafeterias around Flagler and Downtown.

During the XIXth Century, the traditional cities for Cuban exiles were New York, Tampa and Key West (Miami did not exist).

There were also very rich Cubans in West Palm Beach since the 30's.

I guess that they did not go to Broward because it was manigua country full of peasants 70 years ago.
