When I was a teenager I remember a highly touted terror movie that was filmed in Miami and centered around a terrorist attack on the Super Bowl by balloon. They used the actual Steelers vs. Cowboys Super Bowl for some of the scenes. I know Robert Shaw was the main actor. The movie didn't live up to expectations at the box office, if I remember correctly. But it was in the local news for months.

That movie was named "Black Sunday", I believe somebody already made a mention of it. Yea Robert Shaw and Bruce Dern are in it.

That's it, Black Sunday. Thanks.

A couple of friends of mine showed up for the crowd scenes filmed at the Orange Bowl. Panic and run. They were there all day and got fed more than paid. They scrambled to locate themselves in the masses when the movie debuted but it didn't happen.

I saw a reference to Any Given Sunday earlier in this thread but I knew that wasn't the movie I was referring to, especially since the year given was 1999.

It is my impression ... I could be wrong ... but so many films and TVs series were filmed in greater Miami that Miami deserves to be recognized as the third spot in US after LA and NYC.

In American cinema and television and popular culture Miami is Royalty.

A few scenes in Midnight Cowboy (1969) were filmed in nearby Hollywood, FL ... at the Diplomat Hotel and also the Downtown Hollywood Young Circle area.

Don't tell that to those in Atlanta because they think they are the Hollywood South now.
