Sad but true, but that's nationwide. As a black man, I'm fully aware that most of us aren't well liked, just merely tolerated. I can't do anything but try to be a good example...

How well do you think Blacks, Asians, etc... are received in countries like Mexico, Venezuela, Peru, etc..
Sure you have some Carribean Hispanic countries that are enjoy a large black population (Hati, Dominican Republic, etc..) but by and large the rest of South America is a monoculture.
The whole "melting pot" idea has never caught on in South America.

You obviously do not know what you are talking about ... granted most of the countries in Latin America did not receive the huge masses of immigrants like the U.S. did in the late 1800's and early 1900's ... but Argentina , Chile , Uruguay , Brazil , Venezuela , Colombia and yes even Cuba have large immigrant populations from places other than Spain ... try Italy , Germany , Portugal , Asia , Lebanon and Syria . I have been to many countries in Latin America and yes they have enormous problems , but they also have their positives . South America is not a "monoculture" .... Cixel , I mean Unixpilot . A Peruvian , an Argentine and a Brazilian are as different as a Cajun , a Scotsman and a Canadian the only thing they share is their language .
Haiti is not a Hispanic Caribbean country ... genius , and yes there are large Black / African populations in Latin America ... Cuba , Panama , Dominican Republic , Puerto Rico , the Caribbean coasts of Colombia , Venezuela and Ecuador and what about Brazil , although technically not a hispanic country it is in South America and part of Latin America and has a huge black population and the do not speak spanish , they speak Portugese .... so much for your theory about Latin America being a hispanic monoculture .. stick to what you know which is criticizing South Florida from your new home in Houston .

I am an American and love my country , but you do know that we are the only country in the Western Hemisphere that had segregation as late as the 1960's , the Klan , Aryan groups ... in short I love it here , but you have to remove "your rose colored glasses " and admit that some of the worst racist low lifes are here in our great country .... ohh and many of them are "white" like we are .

It is the whole hip hop , gangsta , thug wannbe thing ... I know you like rap music PBC boy so I will not get into that again .... but go up to Sebring and Lake Placid where my parents live and you will hear white teenagers calling each the dreaded "N" word in a community that is 90% white .... they think it is cool and they are "keeping it real " etc , etc , etc .
The word is offensive , repulsive and should not be used by any racial or ethnic groups .

MIAMI-DADE CORRECTIONS
Miguel Aranda, 18, has been charged with a hate crime, battery and attempted felony murder.
» More Photos (broken link) Four teenagers have been charged with a hate crime, accused of the beating and attempted drowning of a black college student at Haulover Beach Park Marina over the weekend.
After calling him the N-word, the teens beat Florida International University freshman Stephen Barrett with a baseball bat and tried to drown him in the Intracoastal Waterway, Miami-Dade police said.
The suspects in the attack range in age from 15 to 18.
All had attended a keg party at an island in the middle of the Intracoastal. About 1 a.m. Sunday, Barrett and two other FIU dorm mates were on a boat headed back to Haulover Marina when the driver of the boat said it was overloaded.
''Get off the boat, N-----,'' the teens said to Barrett, according to police reports.
Words were exchanged, but the FIU students got off the boat, said Christopher Eden, who had attended the party with Barrett and friend Daniel Cabevas.
The three friends, all 18, decided to wait on the island for the boat's next trip.
But when they arrived back at the marina, the teens, now armed with baseball bats, were waiting for them.
The three college students were overwhelmed by their attackers.
Barrett was knocked into the Intracoastal, and several teens tried holding his head under water, according to police reports.
A man fishing nearby called police. Another partygoer ran off and flagged down Bal Harbour Officer Steve Goldberg, who was writing a traffic ticket on Collins Avenue.
''Upon my arrival, I observed approximately 10-15 subjects trying to leave the area in a hurry,'' Goldberg wrote in his report. ``There were three victims who were hit with bats and one victim was almost drowned . . . while also being beaten.''
Miami-Dade, Surfside, Sunny Isles Beach and Bay Harbor Islands officers also went to the scene.
A bloody baseball bat was taken as evidence. The arrests were made by detectives from Miami-Dade's Intracoastal station.
Charged with a hate crime, battery and attempted felony murder: Miguel Aranda, 18, and Gilberto Maakaroun, 17, a North Miami Beach High student.
Charged with a hate crime and battery: Nicholas Checa, 15, and Marino Biondini, 17.
A fifth person, Jose Osorio, 21, was charged with aggravated battery and attempted felony murder, but not a hate crime.
Aranda and Osorio were still jailed Monday.
Alleged hate crimes often make headlines in South Florida. Race usually is the reason attributed, followed by sexual orientation and religion.
Florida's hate-crime laws were enacted in 1989 after a rash of vandalism at Jewish synagogues. A person charged with a hate crime faces a more severe penalty.
Barrett, Eden and Cabevas are dorm buddies at FIU's University Park campus. Eden is white; Cabevas is Hispanic.
While Eden's and Cabevas' injuries were limited to bruises, Barrett's were more serious. He was taken to Aventura Hospital suffering from a stiff neck and dizziness, according to Eden.
Barrett came from New York to attend college at FIU. Reached Monday night, he declined to be interviewed about the incident.
''Welcome to Miami,'' said his friend, Eden.

Something ain't right here ... a black guy , a hispanic guy and a white guy all friends from college were beat up as well .... so is it only considered a "hate crime " because one of the victims is black ... what about the other two victims .... maybe it is just me , am I missing something here ?

While you are at it why not post pictures of the three white teenagers in Spring , Texas near your new home in Houston who beat the crap , poured bleach on and violated a Mexican kid with a broom stick at a party last year ?
That Mexican kid has sinced committed suicide , in large part because of mental anguish . Hey , why not post pictures of the three white kids who beat and killed a homeless guy in Ft.Lauderdale last year ?
A low life is a low life my friend , no matter race / ethnicity .... you just seem to really enjoy jabbing at hispanics . I know many who are wonderful people and are as American as you or I and I know others who I would not attempt any contact with nor would I socialize with on any level . I feel that way about all races ... you have good and you have bad .... deal with it .

Sad part is that I was in Puerto Rico for the first time recently and the locals were very , very friendly I had no problems . It seemed like more people spoke English there than in Hialeah ... the food was great , the service at hotels and restaurants good , it is a beautiful island ... but there is a huge crime wave and usually the perps look like these guys .... again the locals claim that it is New York Puerto Ricans ( Nuyoricans ) that are destroying the island and man you hear hip hop and regaetton all day and everywhere !!
