I am considering moving to Miami to impart on a "fresh start". I had a chance to visit last summer and really enjoyed it. But I have heard more bad than good of this paradise in terms of crime, AIDS, and drugs (None of which I am a fan of). I am a young professional that seeks to be around a similar crowd. If any one in this age range can give me their view points of the pros and cons of living in this area I would appreciate it. Also could you please recommend some nice areas for a young health professional with no kids. Thanks

Crime- move into a good area and you should be pretty safe. AIDS- use protection and don't sleep with everyone that you meet. Drugs- don't take them and move into a good area.

everyone's experience is different so you shouldnt rely on a forum to make a decision like that.

All I can say is that vacation is different than living in Miami...

South Beach, Brickell are good areas for young professionals.

Also might help telling everyone where you are coming from.

Good luck.

Another piece of information that will help us is if you know where you will be working at. Miami has a lot of traffic so living close to where you will be working at is a major plus.

The OP's question is what this forum is all about.

No need to fear that sort of stuff, pretty easy to avoid as long as you're not hanging out in bad neighborhoods.

But that's not so easy since hanging out in good neighborhoods costs a small fortune in Miami.

Coming from Louisiana and I am a health professional. Looking to live in an area for young professionals. The place where I come from people are "not into details" and that's putting it lightly. After spending 8 years in school it would be nice to have an intelligent, intriguing convo outside of "why you aint got no kids?!?"
