I do have to ask...is your daughter grade school aged? You are setting yourself up for a big mistake if you are letting them in the general Dade County school system, unless you look into some of the magnet schools like the excellent Coral Reef system.

Ok, I am a little confused maybe where exactly it is now. Is it east of US1 or West? 114 Pl is East of US1, isn't it. If it is east, I wouldn't live there even if it was gated, to close to Goulds just to the north. Southeast, Southwest and South of there is ok, all new homes for the most part with new schools and charter schools that haven't opened up yet.

Absolutely no way I would put her in any public school system, I agree. She goes to a private International School here, but unfortunately, the same type is more than double tuition in Miami, so I have found 2 charter schools.

Also, the Silver Palm development has a charter school within the community so that is partially why I'm leaning towards there...

Ok, just making sure . Sometimes the charters are worse than public schools, so do your research on Greatschools.net. I do HEAVILY recommend the Coral Reef schools though.

You know that charter schools usually have a waiting list of people from all over the county. Just because you may live next door to one doesn't mean you will get in.

I forgot to mention this. And the list at Coral Reef is insane. I have a neighbor that drives all the way down there just to teach at that school.

Coral Reef Schools? I'm not familiar with the area?

Here's directions Doggie:
 • Heading South, Florida Turnpike to Exit 9B (Exit 9 if heading North).

 • North to S.W. 238th Street
But yes its between Goulds and Homestead like was said.

You don't want to live in the neighborhood surrounding Coral Reef High, forget it. 2nd Best school in the County, but it is a charter school but in a not so great area.

I called the school and they said we had priority since we lived in the community...then it would move on to whoever else is on the list....hopefully that is the case.
