Default Homestead v.s. Miami.....

What do you see as the differences between the two ? Are there more anglo-americans in homestead ? Is it mostly english spoken ? I am planning on moving there early next year. Are homes more expensive in Homestead than Miami ? What kind home can you get there for 130 K ? How is the area around Homestead ? Nightlife in Homestead ?

Homestead is a suburb with some fairly rural agricultural areas. The two cities share almost NOTHING in common besides for being near each other. No idea what 130k can buy in homestead but I am confident it will buy a lot more than 130k in Miami unless you want to live in the worse neighbhorhoodsmeven then 130k isn't much.

Homestead is on the southern border of Miami Dade County on the way to the Florida key. Homestead is more like a town than a city in the sense that there are little if no highrises. There is a large Mexican population there and much of the surrounding area is rural in nature. Its about a 1 hour drive to Miami Beach (Toursit area).

Miami on the other hand contains the majority of all the city life in Miami Dade County. Areas such as Downtown, Midtown and Brickell are predominantly city living with high rises and an above ground rail system call the the Metro Mover which is free to ride. The cost of living in Miami is higher than in Homestead and to get to Miami Beach all you need to do is cross the bay.

If you prefer a small town feel rather than a bigger city feel then Homestead is better for you. However if you are younger and are interested in a night life then Miami would be better.

You should consider renting for a year and traveling around visiting different locations before buying. One more thing, you need a car in Miami or Homestead.

Good luck.
