It depends on what you want out of your trip. Give us an idea of what you want to do while here in Miami. Like do you want to scout out possible areas too live? If so give us a idea how old you are and give us a little idea what your lifestyle (clubs, bars, restaurants) is like.

the red triangle is an area including parts of opa-locka and miami gardens (mostly opa-locka though) where drug dealing is prominent. its called the red triangle because the areas covered are in shape of a triangle if you ´´connect the dots´´ . it is the area where the most drug dealing happens in miami.
It used to be part of my daily route ... I miss those times of my life. Gotta put an end to it somehow, maybe not permanently, but who knows...
take care and be informed!

Thank you Phe!
You know, I've NEVER been to Opa-Locka, though I'd love to get my hair braided at the flea market lol. Appreciate the knowledge!
I had a friend in Miami Gardens...I hated driving there...but I always had to stop at Albertson's Supermarket if I made a trip up there...where was it...441 and 207th?
Obrigada!
Peace

You can pretty much find crime anywhere in Miami and sometimes it'll find you. There are certain parts that are poorer and have a lot of government assisted living facilities "projects" or "section 8" homes and have higher crime rates. Some of these areas are:
Liberty City, Brownsville, Overtown, Arlington Heights, Little Haiti and Little Havana.
Because of rapid growth and development sometimes areas can change from good to bad in a few short years. Even though the crime might not be as high there is way too much traffic and poorly maintained neighborhoods. The best bet is to check out some old and established areas but they tend to be much more expensive and they are governed by home owners associations and their fees and rules. These areas include: Miami Shores, Coral Gables, Coco Plum, Golden Beach, Miami Springs and the Redlands.

Hey in Opa-locka I believe it was NW143rd st...its where i used to cop. oh around 135th by barry U. too. lol, and lets not forget O-town .. that place is magical.
ive seen some sh** roaming the miami streets at night....its the best way to get to know a city i think. when the sun is out, its something, but when it goes down, it totally turns into something else, i love that about some cities.
youd be amazed by the number of drug spots (actual homes) around that area.God i miss those days.. im in sao paulo now though...
beijo
