Good areas
1) Bal Harbor area
2) Key Biscayne
3) Coral Gables
4) Pinecrest
5) Aventura

Bad AREAS
1) Overtown
2) Liberty City
3) Opa - Locka
4) Miami Gardens (my old home turf)
5) Little Haiti / N. Miami
Pretty good list here. I'd add South Miami to the good sections, although it's not quite as upscale as the Gables and Pinecrest. I think Coconut Grove can probably go on both lists depending on what street you're on.

Sad about Opa-Locka. My mom grew up there and I remember going to my grandparents' house growing up and watching the area go downhill. My mom and grandparents would tell me stories of how it used to be a quaint little town where all the neighbors pretty much knew each other.

Good areas
Don't forget The falls and East Kendall, just before the turnpike, 118 avenue , 95 st . I live there and it is very nice. With nice a mean, Profesional and educated neighboors, very clean and neat the houses outside, very safe, closed to turnpike and 874 which take you to pinecrest or south miami, coral gables, etc... Good schools.

Kendall and West Kendall is bad now, it' gang city and over crowded, two or three families per house. North of Kendall, along Sunset Drive is good, from the old horse country a little west of the turnpike, to South Miami. I don't know what you call that area, I just call it Sunset.

Well, I wasn't saying it was "Bad". I was just saying there is more property crimes such as burglary than there should be in that kind of neighborhood, since it IS a good neighborhood.

The Falls and East of Kendall, next to the Turnpike and Miami Dade Community College are very nice. Specially 118 avenue and 95 st. Very safe neighborhood and exellent schools. It is kind of hidden .

I does not like West Kendall, because of Gangs and you live in your car, because of the traffic, but EAST Kendall is another history. Actually North Kendall like "go-go gringa said" is wonderfull, but that is East Kendall.

We had a couple of coworkers robbed at gun point in Opa-Locka a couple of years ago. In broad daylight, and from what they said it wasn't even in a bad neighborhood.

Kinda funny story afterward. One of the guys told the cop he wished he';d had his 357, but that he was probably better off he didn't have it, 'cause he'd have probably gotten himself arrested instead of the crook. Cop told him, "that's ok- we can usually do a little creative writing on something like that".
