Default Any Insight Riviera Day School?

Following up on some threads on private schools, does anyone have any insight into Riviera Day School in Coral Gables? How does it compare to other private non-religious schools in terms of academics and local reputation?

I notice that some of the "big name" private schools charge tuition in the $20,000-$30,000 area, while Riviera asks for around $11,000, which is only slightly more expensive than some Catholic, Montessori and some other private schools. What does that suggest, if anything?

Thanks for any input.

Doggiebus, do you know of any parents who send their children there?

I used to work with people that sent their children to Riviera, they love it for their children. Riviera has a new campus that just opened this year. How old are your children?

Default Also Looking for Info on Riviera

Seems like a good value for Kindergarten. The total cost including all fees for 2013-2014 is $11,755 and there are two assistants in the classroom. There's a big jump in cost for first grade though and it approaches the tuition of the Episcopal and independent schools. Would love to know anything anyone can share about the school experience. Thanks in advance.

It is an independent school.

People from as far as south Pinecrest and downtown, and everywhere in between - Brickell, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, South Miami, north Pinecrest, Dadeland, East Kendall - send their children to Riviera, including several foreign diplomats, and they have many choices within that radius. The small, quaint atmosphere appeals to a lot of people.

I think you could do better only if you locate and can get into a high quality, highly rated public, public charter or public magnet school, thus saving on tuition costs.

Other than that, you can't go wrong, though you may prefer an independent school with a bigger elementary school campus or a denominational school.

As mentioned, Riviera now also has a brand new secondary school campus in East Kendall, state of the art that rivals what used to be its feeder schools.

Good Luck!
