I've lived in Naples for the past few years and have heard mostly good (although some bad) things about the Miami Zoo. Is it worth taking a day trip to see? It looks like it is south of downtown. Is this a nice section of town, or is it dangerous?
Thanks

It's not dangerous. Very easy to get to if you come from Alligator Alley to 75 to the turnpike. It is south of downtown. You exit off the turnpike on Coral Reef (152nd ST) and go west for about 5 blocks. It'll be on your left. I think it's a great zoo! Don't miss the Amazon rain forest area. It's beautiful. So is the aviary area. You can also rent some tandem bikes. Makes it fun to get around, the zoo is really big!

The zoo is great. My wife bought a membership a couple years ago. The kids love it.

The zoo is great! It would be worth a day trip, if you go during the summer its going to be very hot, fyi. I think they have water things the kids could cool off in which will help.

One of the best zoos in the country. I would suggest coming here when it's cooler. The animals are more active and it's such a pleasant place to walk around when its cooler.

I agree....go during the year when it is cooler.....November through March...animals are much more active...not just lying in the shade to keep cool as they do this time of year. It is more pleasant for humans as well.

Exactly. Last time I went was in early January. It was in the 50s in the morning 60s-70s in the afternoon is was great. The larger animals were out in the sun. I also know animals are more active in the morning because by2-3pm for them it's getting close to dinner and sleep/relax time.
