Miami - Is $13,000 enough? (Miami Beach, South Beach: 2013, HOA, condo)

Please just stop wasting your time and remove Miami from your list. With all that you have listed in your original post, it is just not feasible. With the money you have saved and no transportation, you'd need to at least make double of what you are looking at wage wise.

I commend you for asking and then for taking the advice that was given to you. I've personally come across many people who were so determined to move here with nothing or next to nothing that they flat out refused to hear anything that was negative about the area or their plan. A few have made it, most have moved away and one person I know of is in jail.
Having to hustle and scrabble just to pay the rent and eat gets pretty exhausting after awhile and looking at all the near naked boobies in the world won't change that. I'm sure you can get a pretty cheap internet connection in Cleveland and look at naked boobies to your heart's content.

Yeah. But there's nothing quite like the real thing. Plus isn't Miami Beach "legally" topless anyway? Maybe not legal per say, but it isn't frowned upon either?
As for taking the advice? Let me tell you something about all you guys/girls in Florida. I posted a thread "New York City - Is $13,000 enough" (guess where that's posted. LOL) and even the people there gave me more hope than all you people in Florida!!! LOL. And that's New York City even!!! BTW - I've knocked NYC off my list as well. Come check out my profile sometime and look at "Threads started by me" and you can see all the different cities I'm looking at. There are a good number (and a few more to come even), but I am trying to make the correct choice financially as well as emotionally here. I need to make a very mature decision at this point in my life. Even if I don't act "mature" all the time. BOOBIES!!! (.Y.) Hey, if it makes you happy, what else do you need in life right?

No. It isn't legally topless. And it would be frowned upon. But, sometimes the clothing is just enough to keep people out of trouble. It's barely there, but it's there.
Haulover Beach just north of Miami is a clothing optional beach, but it still isn't exactly legal. Also, you'll see more nude fellas than ladies.

Okay. So I went and looked at your posts to see what other cities you're looking at and I noticed Miami is the only warm weather place on your list. Other than boobies and a party atmosphere is there anything else you're looking for? A lot of us in South Florida are or have been fairly transient and have lived in lots of places. Maybe we can point you to something that might fit a little better. Personally, in the U.S. I've lived in South Florida, Key West, San Diego, San Francisco, St Louis, Chicago, Southern Illinois, Springfield MO, St Thomas, as well as living for seasonal jobs on Mackinac Island MI and rural Alaska. Outside of the U.S. I've lived in Russia, Mexico, the Bahamas and Yukon Territory in Canada.

So, just from my experience and what I can tell so far as to what you're looking for I would suggest Southern California, but you may have to up your rent. The reason is that I think you could find work above minimum wage to about $10 an hour which is hard to do in SoFlo without an education, experience, a lot of luck or a niche type profession.
Also, you could probably get by in the Keys if you're willing to again up the rent or live with a roommate. I saw a pedicab company in Key West was looking for workers. You would most likely have to work a couple of jobs there. Also, public transportation is dismal at best so if you didn't live near your work you might have to get a car. The good thing about the Keys is you can get by with just a bicycle a lot of the time. You just won't ever get to leave your immediate area.

If it's important to not drive and to keep your rent as low as you're stating you're going to have to continue looking in the Rust Belt.
Although, I've heard Texas is pretty inexpensive. I don't know from first hand experience though.
