Ok...Big life change for me...All of my kids will be graduated from high school soon and I'm about to go start my life over and I've decided on Miami, Florida....
I keep checking on other people's blogs and comments to see what I should expect when I move down there.
Here are my questions?
1. I'm a massage Therapist....I'm thinking that I will do well in that area with my career? Thoughts?
2. Should I learn Spanish?...I keep hearing it's a very Latino atmosphere...?
3. What can I expect to pay for a one bedroom apartment near the beach in a good neighborhood....? (I've seen some of the ....DO NOTs of where not to move to) ...
4. Can I get a list of some of the Good Neighborhoods?
5. Are there any other comments for someone like me? (And please don't say try to move elsewhere....I DON'T DO COLD!!!!! AND I'M A WATER PERSON!!!) Ok....I'm ready...Give it to me!

I'm betting most massage therapists in Miami have boob jobs.

2. Should I learn Spanish?...I keep hearing it's a very Latino atmosphere...?
Yes. Very.

Anything on the Island.

Miami is more full of crazies than anyplace I have ever been. Go for a long vacation in Miami Beach before moving there to see if you can handle it before you sell your house.

I don't know - good question! What do you think people? We all say you should know some ESP to live in MIA? Do you need some ENG?

I think it's possible you could get work with limited english, but no guarantee.

Their website has lots of info in Spanish.

First off you need to tell us what your budget is? Secondly, do not come down here untill you have a job lined up.

If you're not a US citizen or legal permanent resident, you also need a visa that authorizes you to work as a nurse.

You don't need to speak Spanish to move to Miami. I visit family there every summer and most people are bilingual (at least the Cubans, like my family). It's a beautiful city despite all the hate it gets. Good luck!

What JimboUSMC17 said is true. "do not come down here untill you have a job lined up"
To: phillymama, if your looking for a good apartment near the beach it really depends on if your going to be in Miami Beach or in the mainland near the water or not, but if you look hard enough you could find something as cheap as $800. But you'll get what you paid for, anything better than that will start in the $1000's +. So it'll be upto your budget and how much your willing to pay for rent or lease. And whether its a good thing or not almost everything in south florida is 20 to 40 minute drive away, depending on traffic, so you don't necessarily have to live next to the beach to go to it everyday. Also, if you live in a neighborhood near the beach most people in that area speak English.

Do not move here without a job. Be bilingual and know this areas very expensive and if you need to work, it's very fast paced. Unless you're a trust fund baby or just visiting.

You will not make it on $12/hr and there are massage therapists on every corner.
