a few years ago i went to york penn for a wedding.we visited a wonderful amish flea market there and i fell in love with the hand made quilts. Fresh baked breads and baked goods.a year or so ago i was called to jury duty and was seated next to an amish woman inbonnet and full garb. Her husband was long bearded and ever present thru out the day with his full garb on. We used to go to the open flea markets here in miami ans see the amish or menninites there often.we were told they lived in homestead. They always kept to them selves.they sold their wares a little above fair market prices. The holsum goodness, and love and organic hand made products outweighed the difference.

These folks are not Amish, they are German Baptists. Amish do not usually use electricity, cars, etc. Some of the folks (Knaus) have farms near my home town in Indiana. Several years ago, a friend of mine bought one of the Knaus' family homes. They are German Baptists. The men do have long beards, the women wear long dresses and a certain style of head wear.....not Amish.......

im not sure why the lady keeps saying GERMAN BAPTIST..MOST AMISH ARE OF GERMAN DESCENT PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH IS A LOW GERMAN LANGUAGE.DID YOU BOTHER TO ASK THEM ID THEY WERE AMISH OR NOT?AMISH ISNT A RACE.ITS A WAY OF LIFE.ALTHOUGH MANY DO SPEAK LOW GERMAN OR PENSYLVANIA DUCTH(SAME THING).SO TO KEEP SAYING THEY ARE GERMAN NOT AMISH ONE ISNT CORRECT IF THEY ARE GERMAN DESCENT THEN THEY MOST LIKELY "ARE"FROM THE AMISH OR MENNONITE ORDER AND ALSO ITS THE OLD ORTDER WHO DON T USE ELECTRICITY MANY MODSERN ORDERS DO AND MOST MENNONITE TOO.THERE IS A COMMUNITY OF MODERN AMISH IN SARASOTA.THEY TOO USE ELECTIRCITY AND RIDE BICCYLES SOME EVEN OWN CARS.

Actually, I did ask them. Some of them are from my home town, in Indiana. They are not Amish. Period.
